Shadow Intership Program

CRTC believes encouraging creativity in our youth is essential. Therefore, a new educational opportunity was brought to fruition in the Summer of 2010, the Shadow Program. The Shadow Program allows students to apply and interview to “shadow” one upper level professional and learn in depth areas such as artistic direction, musical direction and stage management.

Past Shadow Program Participants:

Artistic Director Shadow:
     ~  Laura Rozema

Laura is a senior at Kearney High School.  Next year, she plans on going to college out of state with a major in theatre.  Last summer, she worked with Crane River Theater in Godspell.  Some of her other favorite roles include Martha in A Piece of My Heart, the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, Girl in Mother Hicks, and Sally Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Laura is very excited to shadow this year, in order to get a different outlook on how a show is produced!
Stage Manager Shadow:
     ~  Jordan Samuelson

Jordan will be a junior this upcoming year at Keaney High School. She has been in several plays around town including Kearney Community Theatre, Kearney High School, and First Baptist Church.  She is very excited to go behind the scenes this summer with Crane River Theater as a Stage Management Shadow.  This will be a whole new experience and one that she looks forward to.  In her spare time, Jordan likes to write, sing, and play piano.  After high school, Jordan hopes to attend UNK and get a degree in Psychology or Criminal Justice.

Musical Director Shadow:
     ~  Michael Jensen

Michael will be a junior at Kearney Catholic this coming year.  He has been involved with theatre in Kearney for many years, having performed in shows at the Kearney Community Theatre, as well as at KCHS.  You may recognize him as Prince Chulalongkorn (The King and I), Jack (Into the Woods), and Captain Fluellen (Shakespeare’s Inferno).  This summer, Michael will appear on the KCT stage as the hotel manager and an ensemble member in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.  Aside from theatre, Michael is very involved in music. He is a member of KCHS’s select choir, the drum major of the marching band, and enjoys playing trombone, guitar, and piano.  Michael is ecstatic to be a part of Snoopy this summer and feels privileged to get a “behind the scenes” look at how a musical director prepares for a show.
